Get ready for a tangy trip through Argentina’s beautiful landscapes. Your palate is in for an adventure!

Set the mood with some traditional Argentine tunes – play  Adios Nonino from Astor Piazzolla for that authentic Buenos Aires vibe.

Ingredients Argentine Empanadas:
  • Dough (store-bought or homemade, we are not judging)
  • Ground beef (the protagonist of our story)
  • Onions
  • Garlic
  • Red bell pepper
  • Green olives
  • Hard-boiled eggs
  • Paprika
  • Cumin
  • Salt and pepper
  • Olive oil
  • A splash of white wine (and a glass for the chef, of course!)
Preparation Argentine Empanadas:
  1. Beef Bonanza: Heat the olive oil in a frying pan and sauté chopped onions and garlic until golden brown. Add ground beef and cook until it turns brown as well. Throw in diced red bell pepper for some colour.
  2. Spice Symphony: Season the beef mixture with paprika, cumin, salt, and pepper. These spices are what make Argentine food irresistible so don’t be shy! Splash some white wine into it and maybe take sip yourself too while you are at it! Let it simmer until the wine evaporates.
  3. Fabulous Fillings: Stir chopped green olives and diced hard-boiled eggs into the mix. It will give your empanadas that burst of flavour little gems provide.
  4. Dough Magic: Roll out your dough then cut them into circles using either a glass or cookie cutter – try to make them perfectly round if feeling fancy but rustic works too!
  5. Filling Frenzy: Put generous spoonfuls of beef mixture onto each dough circle ensuring not to overfill as we want these babies intact!
  6. Fold and Seal: Fold the dough over creating a half-moon shape then press edges with fork sealing them tight – no escapees in oven please!
  7. Golden Glory: Place empanadas on baking sheet and brush beaten egg on top for that golden finish before putting into preheated 200°C (400°F) oven; bake for around 20-25 mins till golden brown and irresistible.
  8. Serve and Savour: Let the empanadas cool off for few minutes – they have been working hard! Serve warm with chimichurri sauce on the side if you are feeling fancy.

Now gather your friends, raise a glass of Mate and enjoy these wonderful empanadas – your taste buds will be dancing tango!
