Adventure Awaits in the Gap of Dunloe
Adventure Awaits in the Gap of Dunloe
Eager to make your next group and incentive trip more interesting? Then we have the perfect solution for you. Quite recently, Advantage DMC hosted a wonderful incentive group from South Africa in a fantastic location, Killarney in County Kerry – such a breathtaking area, that it will either bring tears of joy to your eyes or have your camera working round the clock.
A Journey into the Heart of Ireland
The adventure kicks off at the luxurious 5-star Hotel Europe, where guests were whisked away in a plush coach to the legendary Kate Kearney’s Cottage, the starting point for the magical Gap of Dunloe. Here, our guests met their “Jarveys”—the friendly local pony and trap drivers who have been working the gap for generations. Trust us, riding in a traditional trap while being told stories of yore is the closest thing to a fairytale you’ll find outside of a Disney movie.
As the Jarveys led the way through the seven miles of the Gap, they regaled our group with tales from Ireland’s rich history, all while navigating the breathtaking views. Once they reached the top, it was all downhill from there—literally—into the Black Valley, where guests learned about the intriguing history of Lord Brandon’s Cottage. Spoiler alert: it’s a tale that’s both enlightening and a tad shocking. Just wait until you hear what went on at that former fishing lodge!

BBQ Bliss and Boat Adventures
After all that exploring, it was time for a well-deserved BBQ lunch. Dietary restrictions? No problem! We cater to all needs, ensuring no one has to experience the horror of being served a lettuce leaf while everyone else digs into a feast.
But the fun didn’t stop there! Post-lunch, our guests hopped onto boats for the return journey to the Hotel Europe, gliding across the three magnificent Lakes of Killarney. Picture this: your group is cruising along, surrounded by stunning views, and the boatmen are spinning tales about the lakes—who knows, you might even spot one of the majestic eagles that call this area home. Those boats are not just impressive in size; the stories that come with them are as rich as the Irish landscape.
The Crown Jewel of Irish Experiences
The Gap of Dunloe isn’t just a pretty face; it’s the jewel in the crown of the Irish Experience, formed 25,000 years ago during the last ice age. Yes, you heard that right—while most of us were just figuring out how to use a spear, glaciers were carving out this stunning U-shaped valley!
And if your guests aren’t lucky enough to be staying at the Hotel Europe, fear not! The boats can whisk them away to the historic Ross Castle, where their coach will be waiting to return them to their hotel—no one gets left behind on this adventure!
Want to elevate the experience? Consider adding a falconry demonstration or live performances by local traditional Irish musicians during lunch at Lord Brandon’s. Because what’s an Irish trip without a little music and a bird of prey to make things exciting?
Ready to Book the Gap of Dunloe?
So, whether your group is seeking breathtaking views, thrilling stories, or just a good excuse to indulge in some hearty Irish BBQ, the Gap of Dunloe is a must-do activity for any group or incentive planning a trip to Ireland.
Book your Adventure Awaits in the Gap of Dunloe today and let your guests experience the magic of Killarney in all its glory!

United Airlines Expands Flights Summer 2025
United Airlines Expands Flights Summer 2025 With More Europe, More Sun, and a Surprise Stop in Montana
United Airlines is beefing up its Chicago O’Hare network for summer 2025, adding more flights to Europe, a transatlantic comeback for Reykjavik, and—because why not—Billings, Montana. If you’ve ever dreamed of a United flight whisking you away to Athens or Dublin straight from the Windy City, your moment has arrived.
Need assistance with groups and incentives in Iceland? Contact us.
New Domestic Destinations (Yes, Montana’s on the List)
Starting May 22, United will initiate daily services to Ontario, California (ONT) or Billings, Montana (BIL). Ontario will be served by a Boeing 737-800 (as if LA traffic wasn’t bad enough—let’s add more flights), while Billings will have the Embraer E175 because the plane needs to get used to landing by the herds of bison.
Travellers hoping to leave the country without much hassle can now do so from Halifax, Nova Scotia (YHZ) which will join the schedule on May 24. The destination will also be served with weekly flights on the Embraer E175. Because who does not wish to switch from deep-dish pizza to the fresh seafood of the Atlantic?
United’s European Takeover: More Flights, Bigger Planes, and an Early Start
Europe is getting extra love from Chicago this summer, with United tweaking schedules, swapping aircraft, and sending more people across the Atlantic than ever.
- Athens: Daily service starts earlier than planned on May 1 and will now feature a Boeing 787-10, which means more seats, more legroom, and more people Instagramming their Greek island getaways.
- Barcelona: The route now kicks off on April 21, a full 10 days ahead of schedule, starting with a 787-10 before transitioning to a 787-8 on May 1. Translation? You’ll have extra time to sip sangria by the sea.
- Dublin: The Boeing 757-200 gets an upgrade to a 787-8 on March 29, bringing with it a smoother ride, more comfort, and fewer elbow battles over the armrest.
- Milan Malpensa: The seasonal route is back from April 7, a little later than planned but still in time for a springtime espresso at the Duomo.
- Munich & Paris: United’s doing a plane swap here. The Munich route downgrades to a 787-8, while Paris gets an upgrade to a roomier 787-10 on March 29. If you were hoping for more space to practice your German, bad news. But if you’re flying to France, enjoy the extra legroom.
Reykjavik Returns, Shannon Joins the Fun
Nordic lovers, rejoice! United is bringing back its Chicago–Reykjavik flights from May 19 to September 23, using a Boeing 757-200. That means more access to waterfalls, puffins, and whatever the Northern Lights decide to do that night.
Meanwhile, Shannon (SNN) gets a seasonal return starting May 22, also via a daily 757-200. Perfect for those looking to kiss the Blarney Stone or just find an Irish pub where they already know how to pour a proper pint.
What’s the Big Picture?
United isn’t just adding flights—it’s making serious moves to dominate transatlantic travel from Chicago. With bigger planes, better schedules, and more European destinations, summer 2025 is shaping up to be the year of Chicago jetting off to Europe like never before.
