To celebrate this exciting launch, Avianca pulled a delightful stunt straight out of a Willy Wonka movie. Passengers on the inaugural flight received 15 ‘Golden Tickets’ for a complimentary dinner for two at El Chato, a top restaurant in Bogotá. Talk about a first-class welcome! Carmen Caballero, President of ProColombia, was thrilled, saying this route is a big win for tourism. I mean, who wouldn’t want to chow down on Colombian delicacies after a long flight?

This new service has also been endorsed by Chicago’s commissioner Jamie L. Rhee who points out that it further solidifies the city as a prime link between North and South America. Avianca now operates an impressive portfolio of 150 routes and connections covering 75 destinations across 25 different countries.
