The world today requires companies to constantly think about their employees’ wellness as well as the company’s sustainability efforts. Arinex recently organized an Eco-Friendly Wellness Corporate Retreat in the Blue Mountains that aimed to support employee health care needs whilst respecting the environment. The retreat was brilliantly crafted to ensure that everyone got sufficient time to relax, bond with their team, and be supportive towards the environment. The Eco-Friendly Wellness Corporate Retreat in the Blue Mountains included multiple wellness components that aimed to nurture the mind and body of the participants. The participants took part in outdoor yoga classes at natural reserves, which promoted mindfulness along with immersion and deep connection with nature. Stress control and personal reflection were merged during the guided mindful hikes around local areas for team building. Retreat guests also enjoyed organic farm-to-table dinners where they were able to source ingredients locally, protect the environment, and lessen carbon emissions. In keeping with Arinex’s core values, the venue was ideal for them as it aided their sustainability objectives. Only venues that were powered by renewable resources and were carbon neutral were used for the retreat. The overarching goal was to eliminate waste during the event, which was accomplished by using biodegradable and recyclable materials. The Wongabel Mabi Forest, situated in the Cairns area, is believed to be one of the most critically endangered ecosystems in the world. This forest is of great significance in the fight against climate change as well as contributing to biodiversity. Hence, it is of utmost importance to restore this ecosystem in order to conserve the existing flora and fauna and maintain the ecological balance of the earth. Considering such value, it is only right that various measures have been put in place to conserve and restore the forest so that it can serve future generations. In 2023, during the Arinex Conference, participants joined the Wongabel Mabi Forest restoration program. With this initiative, the attendees were able to actively work towards the preservation of the environment by planting trees that would help reduce the carbon emitted during the conference. With the vision of restoring the endangered ecosystem, participants were able to gain further knowledge on protecting native ecosystems and the rare biodiversity that exists. The idea of this project was also to encourage planting trees, which had several positive outcomes. The carbon footprints were effectively reduced with each tree planted, thereby enhancing the forest’s overall durability. Even better was the fact that the activity helped raise a higher level of concern for sustainability issues and motivated the people taking part in the activity to adopt better environmentally friendly practices. Due to climate change, pollution, and excessive coral bleaching, the Great Barrier Reef, one of the greatest wonders of nature, is increasingly at risk. Addressing this issue with great urgency, Arinex has been able to take actions by initiating the Great Barrier Reef Conservation Project, which integrates sustainable tourism and protection of the environment. Arinex has partnered with various marine conservation organizations and extended its program activities to include the local marine conservation efforts. In this day and age, eco-friendly practices are critical to apply, which is why it is of key importance to equip staff/human resources with adequate tools and knowledge about sustainability. To tackle this issue, Arinex organized proactive steps and came up with a Green Skills Training for Event Staff Project to empower event staff with sustainable skills relevant to event management. This is in line with Arinex and their ambition to mitigate the negative impact events have on the environment. This Green Skills Training provides different kinds of training which were useful enablers for embedding sustainability in the event lifecycle from conception phase to the final phase. The team of Arinex participates in activities such as waste management, materials efficiency, carbon footprint reduction, and engagement with staff. In addition, sustainable materials utilization was also a part of the training alongside resource management practices. A zero-waste policy within the project comprises an official policy on composting, waste management, and an expansion on rules regarding the usage of single-use plastics at events. Employees are continuously trained to work with local vendors to obtain green goods and services enabling economization of an event's ecological impact. Such a solution-oriented approach has encouraged employees to find ways to make the events greener. The Green Skills Training for Event Staff has produced measurable results.
