Oslo: Vikings, Views, and Very Good Food - A 5-Day Immersive Experience

Buckle up for a 5-day Oslo adventure, where you’ll go from Viking ships to modern art, all while munching on enough Norwegian food to make you question why you don’t live here.

Day 1:  You’ve landed in Oslo! Accommodate yourself at the Hotel Continental, which, being of five-star category, is of such comfort that will make you feel like royalty ( or at least an acquaintance to the Queen of Norway). Seriously, you’re imagining royalty? Then after check in lie back for a second to embrace the fluffy pillows and overall plush amenities provided to you onsite. Also you can take a scroll down Karl Johans Gate, which is considered as the main Highway and is a combination of shops and cafes along with an endless supply of people looking to keep you busy. .

Day 2: Day two is all about embracing your inner Viking. First, head to the Viking Ship Museum, where you can check out some seriously old ships that are somehow more impressive than anything you’ve seen in a history class. Next, get your heart racing at the Holmenkollen Ski Museum and jump on the ski jump for views that’ll make you feel on top of the world (without actually needing to ski). Then, it’s time to chow down at Mathallen Food Hall—think of it like a world food buffet, but with Norwegian specialties like fish cakes and reindeer stew.

Day 3: Today, start your journey at the National Gallery to learn more about the interesting culture Norway has to offer. It is here that you will find Edvard Munch’s The Scream, the painting that illustrates how many of us feel before having our morning coffee. Next, take a stroll around Oslo Opera House as you marvel at the modern architecture and pretend to be a world-class opera singer. Afterward, visit Frogner Park, but try not to feel too uncomfortable by the sheer amount of over two hundred sculptures comprising of nude human bodies, as it is just art, a very strange piece of it at that.

Day 4: Your stomach’s probably growling by now, so it’s time to head to the Oslo Street Food market for breakfast. Yes, breakfast. Who knew street food could be this good at 9 AM? After you’ve filled up, wander around Grünerløkka, a super trendy neighborhood where you can shop, eat, and get seriously jealous of the locals' effortless style. If you’re still hungry (spoiler: you will be), try a smoked salmon bagel or a giant cinnamon bun. Dinner tonight is at Lofoten Fiskerestaurant, where the fish is so fresh you’ll swear it just jumped from the fjord straight onto your plate.

Day 5: Your final day in Oslo is here, and there are still a few tasks left to tick off your list. You still have to visit Aker Brygge for some souvenir shopping.Next, go on a soothing cruise around the Oslo Fjord and bask in the extraordinary beauties of the city. After you’re done exploring Aker Brygge, head towards the Oslo airport.

This 5-day trip to Oslo does not miss a single thing that a traveller could ask for.
