Events in Estonia

Estonia is a small country, yet it is adorned with plenty of culture. Mostly the events and activities focus on the traditions, music, and nature but there is an attempt to synchronise the modernity with the old. National holidays are numerous and dedicated to such topics as folk music, film or literature. In summer time in the country and cities there are open-air concerts and medieval fairs.

Geographically, Estonia is situated in the Baltic region and the review will cover the middle of the Summer Day, or Jaanipäev in Estonian, one of the greatest holidays for the country which has a lot of bonfires, outdoor parties and communication. Christmas markets and light shows take place in winter which offers romance to the old towns of Estonia.

It is hard to choose which events we should publish. We are trying to include all the main ones, but if you would like to see another event added, please let us know at: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

We add events on a continuous basis. So if you want to stay informed of the latest information, please bookmark this page.

Additional Events in Estonia

Jaanipäev (Midsummer Day)

Jaanipäev is observed on June 23-24. And this is among the most celebrated of the Estonian holidays. It commemorates the summer solstice, which traditionally comes with bonfires, songs, and folk dances. In order to bask in the long, warm days that are characteristic during the summer months when they belong to nature and to one another, Estonians go to the countryside.

Old Thomas Festival

Every year in the city of Tallinn in May is celebrated the Old Thomas Festival which venerates the famous medieval figure of Old Thomas. The festival breathes life into the Old Town of Tallinn to the visitors with historical spectacles, folk music and galleries and takes them back to the estonians’ splendid Yesteryear.
