Known as Ngày Thương Binh Liệt Sĩ in Vietnamese, this day is observed nationwide including Ho Chi Minh City. People pay tribute to those who sacrificed their lives for the country's independence by visiting monuments or cemeteries where they rest eternally.

During this time, laying wreaths at local war memorials attending commemorative events and other ceremonies held at various places are common practices.
