History of Mid Autumn Festival

The beginning of the 8th lunar month is the rice harvest season in Vietnam. It is a very busy time for many parents, who work day and night on the fields in Vietnam. It means little quality time with their children.

The full moon in this month is a chance to make it up to their children. That is why it it is known as the Children's Festival. During the Full Moon, offerings are made to the deities after a bountiful harvest.
