Fireworks, parades through the streets and performances in the park are not new here. The Chinese New Year and the Mid-Autumn Festival are among the most celebrated holidays in Hong Kong therefore they always know how to throw a good party! Chinese New Year

In Hong Kong, Chinese New Year is known as Spring Festival. This is the most important holiday of all for them. It starts from late January till sometime in February (between 21st Jan – 20th Feb), over two weeks filled with rituals and customs to ensure good luck throughout the year. Busy streets come alive with lion dances and parades. Victoria Harbour lights up with fireworks while red lanterns decorations can be seen at temples and homes across town wishing people prosperity & wealth! Families gather together for reunion dinners; children get lucky money packets called ‘Lai See’ from their elders!

Cheung Chau Bun Festival

The Bun-snatching Contest is held during this week-long event which takes place on Cheung Chau Island towards end April / early May period every year – honoring Taoist god Pak Tai. People build bamboo towers covered top down by buns; participants climb these towers trying to collect as many buns possible within given time limit; other entertainments include lion dances, dragon dances & deities procession where kids dressed up like gods making it one-of-a-kind experience not just locals but visitors too!
