Events in Namibia to plan for

Namibia is a land of diverse cultures and breathtaking disparities. Social gatherings are anchored in customs and collective rejoicing. Majority of these events bring out the different facets of the country’s history such as time-honored practices and contemporary festivals.

Residents of Namibia come together adorned in colorful attires while dancing to traditional tunes accompanied by live bands. The Windhoek Carnival among others like Marula Festival act as a unifying factor for various communities besides being an opportunity to display the richness that makes up our nation culturally. Another important event is Herero Day which acknowledges the past struggles endured by Herero people thus celebrating their resilience against all odds.

Windhoek Karneval

Every year during April month-end, Windhoek streets burst into life with a riotous display of German-Namibian culture through what is known as Windhoek Karneval. Celebrated for numerous days successively, this festival boasts vibrant parades, energetic bands playing music non-stop as well as traditional German food and beer stalls that line up along them. During this period both locals from within Namibia itself or abroad descend upon these streets filled with revelry spirit thus providing an ideal platform for cultural exchange amongst different people who converge here seeking entertainment.

Namib Desert Ultra Marathon

Happening every May without fail; the Namib Desert Ultra Marathon invites runners worldwide to challenge their limits in one of earth’s most beautiful yet unforgiving places. This 250 kilometer long race takes participants through sand dunes higher than skyscrapers over five days where they must conquer rocky landscapes amidst scorching heat while crossing wide open spaces only interrupted by occasional shrubs which offer no shade at all – giving them a taste not only about endurance but also showcasing extreme conditions found within this desert region so called Namib. Such events reflect human determination vis-à-vis magnificent features exhibited across various parts within Namibia
