Events in Peru

Peru, a nation of history and traditions, is a place where the people pour all their heart and soul into it. The events that take place here have their roots in remote cultures and include aboriginals as well as Spanish influences. Such holidays as Inti Raymi or the Celebration of the Sun, or Scenes of Puno Week on Lake Titicaca leave a lasting impression while at the same time demonstrating the full extent of Peruvian culture.

From religious processions during Semana Santa to food festivals celebrating the nation's renowned cuisine, there is always something to engage both locals and visitors.

It is hard to choose which events we should publish. We are trying to include all the main ones, but if you would like to see another event added, please let us know at: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

We add events on a continuous basis. So if you want to stay informed of the latest information, please bookmark this page.

Additional Events in Peru

Inti Raymi Festival

Since the sun is the eternal center of the Inca culture, on the 24th of June every year, the people of southern Peru demonstrate the richness of ancient Cusco with the Inti Raymi festival – the ‘Festival of the Sun.’ The festival has its foundations in pre-Columbian times and is related to the celebration of the winter solstice. This annual event attracts both residents and tourists who wish to see a spectacular performance of Inca ceremonies held on the ancient Sacsayhuamán citadel – ‘the place where the falcon nestles’. The sound is accompanied by dancers in costumes, musicians, and colorful processions – all traditional to the Inca people.

Mistura Food Festival

Being held each year in Lima, the Mistura Food Festival brings together food lovers and celebrates Peru’s colorful cuisine. Be it creamy ceviches or succulent anticuchos, or courses rounding up exotic Amazonian and Andean regions, Mistura has its share of cooks, farmers, and gourmets from all over the globe. More than just feasting that week in September is for the purpose of eating -peru food and food stories blended with rhythm and images and even more active food of the market.
