Rome lives with history and culture through its various events. Be it a religious event there is always something for every one. Street events, concerts, and open air festivals usually do not lack ancient ruins or famous buildings as a standard background.

For instance, Natale di Roma, or Rome’s birthday, is one of the most important celebrations with parades and reenactments of various Roman periods. There are also religious holidays including Easter and Christmas which take place during this time with beautiful processions and church services.

Feast of Saints Peter and Paul

Every year, on the 29th of June, Rome celebrates the twin Pillars of the Church, Saints Peter and Paul. Celebrations are marked by religious and civil events. Such festivities include a ceremonial service at St. Peter’s Basilica that is proceeded by igniting of fireworks and gaiety all over the city. And this is the day when Romans and tourists look back into the distant past of the city, its history, and spirituality.

Festa de’ Noantri

The local festival in Trastevere area which happens around the middle of July has its origins in 16th century. It is a week-long event in honour of the Virgin of Carmen and includes processions, concerts, street markets etc. The festival is revealing the cohesion and traditions of the people in the area.
