Events in Thailand

Thailand is a dynamic patchwork of cultural festivals and lively events that depict the nation’s history and community mindedness. Thai festivals blend tradition with fun — each occasion tells a tale about Thailand’s past, from the quiet lantern releases of Yi Peng to the raucous water fights of Songkran.

These celebrations captivate both tourists and locals through their stunning visuals and hands-on activities suitable for all ages. The year-round schedule includes everything from sacred ceremonies to modern raves, so everyone can find something they love.

It is hard to choose which events we should publish. We are trying to stick to the main ones, but if you would like to see another event added, please let us know at: Thailand events.

We add events on a continuous basis. So if you want to stay informed of the latest information, please bookmark this page.

Additional Events in Thailand

Songkran Festival

Run annually from April 13th-15th, Songkran marks the Thai New Year and is one of the largest events in Thailand. During this time towns across Thailand become filled with music, traditional dance shows as well as local food stalls serving up tasty dishes such as pad thai or sticky rice with mangoes. However the most famous part of the festival is when people take to streets armed with buckets full of water (or hoses/water guns) ready for some epic water fight action! The idea behind this is that by drenching others you are washing away their bad luck/sins from last year so they have a clean start this time round too.

Loy Krathong

Happening on the night of full moon in November according to traditional Thai lunar calendar (usually around November), Loy Krathong is a beautiful spiritual festival where people gather beside lakes, rivers or canals where they release small floating vessels decorated with flowers, candles or incense sticks – called ‘krathongs’ – onto water as an offering to goddess Ganga who represents all waters on earth including oceans seas etc., letting go off grudges/anger/hatred etc., so that one may start afresh without any baggage dragging him/her down henceforth towards better life ahead; thousands also light up sky with lanterns creating magical atmosphere.
