Zanzibar is a lively place filled with culture where events are held often. These functions mix both old and new customs as they celebrate different things, which in turn bring out the rich history of this island. Everything from music festivals, art exhibitions to religious ceremonies take place here not forgetting lively street fairs too.

Music is central during any gathering in Zanzibar since there are various genres like traditional Taarab or even modern Afrobeat. Among them is Sauti za Busara festival which happens annually bringing together musicians from all over Africa for week-long music extravaganza that sees performances around the clock.
