Panafest 2024 - Celebrating African Culture and Heritage

Panafest 2024 is a celebration of African culture and heritage. This year’s event will be held from July 26th to August 1st will be held in Cape Coast, Ghana.

From its inception in 1992, Panafest has grown into an important cultural event emphasizing on African roots and the link between diaspora in relation to Africa. The festival offers a variety of activities including traditional music and dance performances; art exhibitions; guided tours around historical sites; and seminars that teach about the continent’s heritage as well as present day achievements.

One of the major highlights at Panafest 2024 is Emancipation Day which commemorates abolition of slavery and pays homage to the strength and survivalism of Africans. On this day there shall be a wreath-laying ceremony at Cape Coast Castle where slaves were kept before being sent away as evidence of slave trade. There will also be “Return Journey” walk that retraces footsteps of enslaved Africans.

The theme for Panafest 2024 is "Reclaiming Our African Identity: Uniting Africa's People for Sustainable Development." This theme underlines that festival’s purpose towards causing harmony among Africans, Diasporas thus instigating pride and self-esteem among individuals. In different forms various discussions are expected to take place aimed at finding out how sustainable development can be realized within Africa.

Panafest 2024 also presents several networking opportunities.
