For UNICO DMC, no trip to Italy is complete without visiting the legendary Roman Forum and Colosseum. These ancient wonders are much more than historic sites; they represent gates into understanding the magnificence of Rome’s imperial past.
A Peek at Ancient Civic Life: The Roman Forum
Start off your journey at the Roman Forum – once the bustling heart of Ancient Rome. This sprawling ruin complex was a centre for public life in Rome where politics, trade and socializing thrived. Within it you will find grand temples, basilicas and monuments that mark different moments in Rome’s political and social history.
Imagine standing where Julius Caesar once addressed his people or triumphal processions celebrated military victories. Among its many highlights are Temple of Saturn, Arch of Septimius Severus or House of Vestal Virgins which each have their own intriguing stories to tell about everyday life as well as significant events in ancient Roam.
The Colosseum: Rome’s Iconic Building
The next stop to Discover the Ancient Marvels of Rome should be The Colosseum – perhaps the most famous symbol for all things Roman! Completed in AD 80 this huge amphitheatre hosted gladiatorial contests, animal hunts and other public spectacles that entertained up to 50000 people at once. Standing inside one can almost hear roar of crowd and sword clash…
But what truly astounds is not only what happened within but also how it was built – a testament indeed to fantastic skills possessed by city planners during those times! As you move around different levels try imagining scale such events held here along with amazing architectural achievements which have allowed this structure survive so long under such heavy use – don’t forget about underground chambers where gladiators lived before fights and animals stayed prior their dramatic appearance into arena.

A Taste of Tuscany
A Taste of Tuscany - Adrenaline addicts and corporate adventurers out there! How about a trip to the hot Tuscan hills, where every grape has a story, and every olive tree carries whispers of tradition. We have it all here! Italian travel experts Unico DMC have come up with something that will make your incentive trip or team building escapade in Italy become one of the most memorable events.
Imagine this: you and your team surrounded by rolling vineyards and the scent of new olive groves are on an adventure tasting wine and olive oil. Yes, you heard that right! Get rid of banalities; this is an exploration that will see you sip, savor and grin from ear to ear.
Now shut your eyes and picture being lost in a picturesque vineyard filled with vines loaded with juicy grapes. A real expert who is your guide houses wine production techniques’ stories transforming them from science to feelingful narrative.
Walking through the olive groves, discover how extra virgin oil is made by professionals. It’s not only taste but the love poured into every bottle that brings you closer to thousands years’ culinary traditions of Italy.
A Taste of Tuscany
And what’s the best part? The tasting itself! Imagine yourself taking a gulp from a smooth Chianti glass while the sun casts its reddish light over Tuscany’s fields. Combine it with barely perceptible piquancy of fresh-pressed unrefined olive oil on top of home slice—it’s like hearing pleasing music touching your tongue through varieties of tastes.
This is no ordinary team-building exercise; it is an experiential odyssey which builds genuine ties. Laughter flows as freely as wine does, whilst shared experiences lead to relationships stronger than any conference room icebreaker.
So if you are eager for some Tuscan magic during your Italian getaway while working with a DMC who knows how to transform an average taste into an indelible experience, then Unico DMC is your key to a great life. Get ready for Italy’s finest and be charmed by the Tuscan vineyards with your team.

Get ready to pack your bags (and maybe your sunscreen) because Jet2 is about to make your travel dreams a whole lot easier! Starting April 1, 2025, Jet2 will officially launch operations from London Luton Airport, and it’s not just your average route expansion. Nope, this time, Jet2 is bringing flights to 17 destinations, including a few sunny spots like the Canary Islands and Balearic Islands. Oh, and did we mention three brand-new, exclusive routes to Girona, Verona, and Madeira? Yep, Luton just became the gateway to all things cultural, romantic, and breathtakingly beautiful.
Need help with your groups and incentives in Europe? Contact us!
Girona: History, Beaches, and the Best Way to Skip the Barcelona Crowds
Take advantage of Jet2’s weekly Sunday flights to Girona. Do not dread the long queues at Barcelona, as Girona is no different in looks but much less crowded. Even though there may not be as many people as in Barcelona, the “Barcelona look” is still present. You may drive to Costa Brava’s beaches in a matter of minutes after exploring ancient walls and frolicking at the magnificent Girona Cathedral. It’s a great combination of culture and a beach area, which is the best of both worlds.
Verona: A Little Romance, A Little Renaissance, A Lot of Pasta
Next up, Jet2 will be offering weekly Wednesday flights to Verona, Italy’s city of love, where the balcony from Romeo and Juliet still exists (no, not the one in your living room). But Verona is more than just a love story—this city is an architectural treasure chest with the iconic Arena di Verona (where you can see opera performances) and food so good it’ll make you wish you were born Italian. Whether you’re a history buff or a hopeless romantic, Verona has a slice of culture—and pizza—to make your trip unforgettable.
Madeira: Paradise Found (And It's Not Just the Wi-Fi)
For those who want a little more adventure with their relaxation, Jet2 is adding weekly Monday flights to Madeira, Portugal’s gorgeous island paradise. Whether you're hiking through lush mountains, exploring volcanic caves, or sipping on that famous Madeira wine (because, let’s be honest, you have to try it), this destination has it all. And don’t forget about the beautiful capital city, Funchal, where you can stroll through botanical gardens or haggle for local treasures in bustling markets. It’s like nature’s playground—but with better food.
Jet2’s Luton Expansion: More Jobs, More Flights, More Fun
This amazing expansion isn’t just good for your holiday – it is even better for the economic ecosystem of the region. So, expect more bustle at Luton’s airport as it has been revealed that there will be 125 new jobs available (and we don’t mean just the duty-free stores here).
Jet2’s focus on cheap, flexible flying to obscure places is making it easier than ever to holiday in places that don’t feature in glossy travel brochures, as the interest in short haul breaks around Europe continues to grow. Picture less popular places with tourist’ hotspots, more places that are off the beaten track and absolutely an easier time to reach them all thanks to the fact that London is relatively close to Luton.
So, What’s Next?
The recent Jet2 expansion to new destinations is part of a bigger picture in European travel. All this in time for you to book a vacation with new options from Girona, or Verona, or even Madeira, meaning there will now abound history, love-in-the-air, and adventure all at stellar value for your money spent.
Grab your bags (but just don’t take too much, you will have souvenirs you will be bringing back), and make preparations to welcome some of the heavenly sights in Europe courtesy Jet2 who are expanding. This will take place in April 2025.
Highlights Jet2 Adds 17 New Routes from Luton:
- Jet2 launches from Luton in April 2025.

France Brings Back Border Checks
France Brings Back Border Checks: UK Tourists, Buckle Up for Queue Season!
Starting November 1, France is bringing back its border checks with six neighboring Schengen countries—think of it as a six-month reunion tour for the borders with Luxembourg, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Spain, and Italy. The good news? Not every traveller will get the full border experience. The slightly-less-good news? UK tourists heading to France are still in for a potential lineup. All this is part of a French plan to tackle security concerns, and yes, it’s sparking some “Schengen Surprise” moments across Europe.
UK Travelers: Get Ready for the Checkpoint Challenge
Whether you’re driving in from Belgium or hopping the Eurostar from London, the new checks could turn your breezy hop into France into more of a “brace for the wait” situation. The French government assures us these checks are “sporadic,” meaning you might skate through—or find yourself exchanging glances with the other travelers in an impromptu queue. And if you’re flying in? Well, don’t celebrate just yet. Airport security lines might get an upgrade from “long” to “eternally memorable.”
The Official Reason for France Brings Back Border Checks
According to French Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau, it’s a matter of public safety and national security, with a particular focus on minimizing illegal migration and managing potential threats. Following in the footsteps of other European nations tightening borders, France is stepping up to bring a bit of “national security chic” back to Schengen, 1995 style.
What This Means for Travel Plans
Tourists driving in from Belgium, Luxembourg, or Italy (who just wanted a peaceful French vacation) could see some holdups. And if you’re boarding Eurostar? Maybe pack an extra baguette and a crossword for potential passport checks. It’s a return to the “good old days” of border control.
Get assistance with your groups and incentives in France, contact us!
So, What’s This Mean for the Travel Industry?
The return of these checks is like tossing a handful of pebbles into the smooth waters of European travel. Airlines, coach companies, and rail services might need to do a little scheduling shuffle to accommodate longer wait times at borders, which could mean more updates and delays for passengers. For hospitality folks, this could also mean a few surprises at check-in as travellers trickle in from all that extra border bonding time.
Quick Travel Tips for UK Tourists Tackling France This Winter
While the romance of France is still very much alive, a little prep can help keep it from becoming a long-distance relationship! Here’s how to keep your trip smooth:
-
Allow Extra Time for Travel: With some passport control déjà vu back on the menu, add a little buffer time to your plans—no one wants to miss the first cheese plate of the trip.
-
Monitor Travel Alerts: Stay plugged into the latest travel advisories for France and its neighboring countries. French police are just as likely to throw in a curveball at the last minute.
-
Consider Alternative Routes: Fancy a scenic detour? Explore different ways to get to your destination (hello, sky-high view!) if your road or rail route has you in too deep with the border lines.
A New Era of European Travel: Adjusting to the Border Backtrack
This reintroduction could mean that other Schengen countries might join the border check revival, so keep an eye out for changing policies. And for those who cherished Europe’s passport-free days, this could be a cue to savor the “classic” lines and checks once again. So UK tourists, let’s embrace the slight return of red tape with good humor and a smidge of nostalgia.
The magic of France still awaits—now just with a slightly longer preview. Bon voyage, and may your lines be short and your pastries fresh!

Starting April 5, you can skip the layovers and head straight from Houston to Puerto Escondido, Mexico, where the beaches are hot, the vibes are chill, and United is now the only U.S. airline flying directly there. That’s right—United’s got 23 Mexican destinations in its pocket. Talk about a fiesta!
But wait, there’s more! On May 22, United will start a daily nonstop flight between San Francisco and San Jose, Costa Rica. So, whether you're craving Silicon Valley’s tech or Costa Rica’s tropical wonders, you’ll be connected to all seven of United’s U.S. hubs. Looks like it’s time to pack your surfboard—or your laptop. Or both!
Bonus Round: Ulaanbaatar, Kaohsiung, and Palau
United’s taking things next-level with new routes connecting the U.S. to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, and Kaohsiung, Taiwan—cities no other U.S. airline serves. Dreaming of camel racing or wandering through Taiwan’s Pier-2 Art Center? United’s got you covered. Oh, and if you’re into diving, they’ve added Koror, Palau, to the lineup for a chance to swim with the fish like a pro.
More Flights, More Fun
As if all that wasn’t enough, United’s throwing in early start dates for Venice, Athens, and Barcelona flights, plus ramping up service to hotspots like Palma de Mallorca, Dubrovnik, and Athens from Newark/New York. So, wherever you want to go this summer, chances are United’s already plotting a route.

Ryanair Launches New Winter Routes 2024
Ryanair Launches New Winter Routes 2024: Milan Gets More, Bergamo Gets Less, and Michael O'Leary Wants Your Surcharges Gone!
Italy’s favourite airline (and let's be honest, probably its loudest) Ryanair has big plans for winter 2024! Like a chef tossing pizza dough into the air, Ryanair is launching 10 new routes from Milan Malpensa Airport, whisking travelers off to sun-drenched Fuerteventura, the ancient ruins of Athens, the festive squares of Budapest, and… wait for it… the winter wonders of Tallinn. Yes, Estonia! So, pack your thermals and sunscreen, because Ryanair’s got you covered—Mallorca to Marrakech and everywhere in between. The 10 new winter routes from Milan Malpensa Airport are to Athens, Budapest, Paris, Fuerteventura, Krakow, Mallorca, Marrakech, Reggio Calabria, Rzeszow, and Tallinn.
If that wasn’t enough to get you rummaging through your sock drawer for your passport, Ryanair is also parking its eighth aircraft at Milan Malpensa. This move is set to boost their traffic by 10%, meaning 4.5 million eager passengers will be zipping around the continent, experiencing new cultures and, of course, Ryanair’s infamous legroom.
Bergamo's Bye-Bye to Seats
But not all Italian airports are basking in Ryanair’s wintery glow. Over at Milan Bergamo, it’s not all spritz and sunshine. Ryanair has decided to trim down its fleet there from 24 to 20 aircraft, causing a 5% decline in seat capacity. Why, you ask? Because Ryanair is redirecting its attention to airports that are friendlier to their bottom line (hey, it’s a business, folks).
Trieste & Reggio Calabria: The New Italian Darlings
With a twinkle in his eye, Michael O’Leary, Ryanair’s Group CEO, made it clear why Bergamo’s loss is Trieste and Reggio Calabria’s gain: municipal surcharges, baby! Airports in Friuli Venezia Giulia and Calabria have waved goodbye to these pesky fees, opening the floodgates to cheaper flights and more tourists—Ryanair tourists, to be specific.
O'Leary was quick to advocate for nationwide surcharge abolition, promising that if Italy ditches these charges at all its airports, Ryanair would happily throw $4 billion into the Italian economy. That’s right, 40 new aircraft, 250 new routes, and a whopping 1,500 jobs! In O’Leary’s words, "More planes, more jobs, and, of course, more of those iconic Ryanair announcements that you can barely understand over the crackle of the speaker."
Ryanair Launches New Winter Routes 2024
So, whether you're dreaming of Krakow’s medieval charm, Parisian cafes, or Reggio Calabria's southern Italian sunshine, Ryanair is making sure your winter is full of budget-friendly jet-setting. Just make sure you avoid the municipal surcharge. After all, O'Leary’s on a mission to make Italy surcharge-free, one flight at a time!

FaceBoarding Takes Off in Italy
FaceBoarding Takes Off in Italy
While you can’t toss your passport in the trash just yet, facial recognition technology is making strides towards making physical identity documents a thing of the past. Take Milan Linate and Catania airports in Italy, for example. They’re currently testing out FaceBoarding, a facial recognition system that lets travellers breeze through security without flashing their passport, ID, or boarding pass.
Here’s how FaceBoarding works: after checking in (either online or at the counter), travellers head to the FaceBoarding kiosk. There, they scan their identity document, boarding pass, and face. Once that's done, they can zip through dedicated security lines without having to dig out their passport or boarding pass again.
Well, almost. If you’re not flying with ITA or SAS—the two airlines currently on board with FaceBoarding—you’ll still need to show your documents before boarding the plane. Bummer, I know.
FaceBoarding Takes Off in Italy
Travellers can register for FaceBoarding for just one flight or for the whole trial period, which runs until December 2025. Registration happens at the FaceBoarding kiosk, but don’t worry, if you prefer the old-school way of traveling, you can still do that. There’s no requirement to use FaceBoarding.
To make things even easier, an app is coming in June 2024. This will let travelers register from the comfort of their own homes. Talk about convenience!
FaceBoarding aims to cut down on airport lines and speed up the whole airport experience. Plus, biometric-based identification can boost security by reducing passport fraud. Airports and international train stations already use biometric data to shorten immigration lines. By snapping a photo of your face and matching it with the one on your passport, your identity is quickly and safely confirmed without the need for a border agent’s manual check.
So, while facial recognition technology like FaceBoarding is making airport security checks smoother, you’ll still need to have your passport or ID handy. For now, anyway. Don’t leave home without them, or you might not get very far!
Why not try out this cool new feature on your next trip to Italy!

Malta's Universal Airlines launches New Flights
Malta based CEO Simon Cook spilled the beans to the Times of Malta, sharing that despite the fierce competition, Universal Air is feeling pretty confident about their game plan. They're all about that sweet spot - not quite budget, but definitely not breaking the bank like the big legacy airlines. Simon mentioned their nifty Dash 8s, which not only keep costs down but can handle those less-traveled routes like a breeze.
Now, here's a fun fact: Universal Air isn't just about scheduled flights anymore. Nope, they're diving into the world of charters too. Starting March 26, they'll be whisking folks away from Pecs to both Malta and Munich twice a week. And get this, they're the only ones doing scheduled flights from that part of Hungary!
Speaking of planes, they've got their hands on a shiny new DHC-8-Q400, with two more on the horizon. These beauties are taking over from their older fleet, giving them that fresh new plane smell and a boost in efficiency. Simon mentioned that while their charter business was cruising along nicely, it was time for an upgrade. So, they took the leap to keep things fresh and exciting for their passengers.
And fear not, charter fans! Universal Air isn't leaving you high and dry. They're still keeping those flights coming alongside their new scheduled services.
