Lamb from East Serbia
Ready to feast like a Serbian shepherd? Let us prepare that legendary Lamb from East Serbia!
We asked Aleksandar at Talas-S DMC about his favourite dish from Serbia and this Lamb from East Serbia was the winner. Keep reading to find out more.
The dish is a mixture of tradition and taste, right out of the beautiful landscapes of east Serbia. Prepare your tongue for what might be the most exciting ride ever!
Let’s get set the mood to cook this marvellous dish Lamb from East Serbia
Set your speaks to play April in Belgrade
Ingredients Lamb from East Serbia:
- Lamb (the star of the show)
- Onions
- Garlic
- Carrots
- Potatoes
- Tomatoes
- Olive oil
- Salt and pepper
- Fresh herbs (rosemary, thyme)
- Paprika
- White wine (and definitely a glass for the chef)
Preparation:
- Lamb Spa Treatment: Grab that tender lamb and pamper it with salt, pepper and paprika. Allow it to marinade while you fix the vegetables. This lamb needs some loving care!
- Veggie Wonderland: Cut up the onions, garlic, carrots and potatoes. Scatter them in a big tin pan like planting veggies in a garden. For colour and excitement add tomatoes.
- Lamb Landing: Place your seasoned lamb right in the middle of your veggie wonderland. Remember that it’s all about the lamb here; it's supposed to be at center stage.
- Herb Heaven: Sprinkle fresh rosemary and thyme over everything. These herbs are like godmothers to the cabbage patch—magic wands waving enchantment all around.
- Drizzle and Sizzle: Drizzle olive oil on every inch of lamb and veggies without sparing any spot; we want them drenched in it’s deliciousness. Splash some white wine (for added flavour) don’t forget to top yourself up too–chef’s perk!
- Roast to Perfection: Put this creation into a pre-heated 180°C (350°F) oven. Roast for about 1,5-2 hours occasionally basting with the pan juices. The kitchen will smell so good that you may have to barricade the doors to keep your neighbours at bay!
- Final Touches: Take the dish out of the oven when lamb is tender and veggies are slightly browned. Let it stand for a few minutes; its been working hard.
- Serve and Savour: Slice the meat then serve it together with roasted vegetables. A glass of Serbian wine plus some crusty bread, which you can use to soak up all those succulent juices, make an excellent combination with this meal.
Now here is something hearty, tasty and traditional in Serbian style as well. Call your friends, raise glasses, let’s dig into this East-Serbian feast.
Your taste buds will thank you – look forward to some serious food envy! Why not try this in Serbia? Our wonderful DMC in Serbia would love to help you plan your next group trip. Contact Talas-S DMC
Serbia's Hidden Gem Novi Sad
Serbia's Hidden Gem Novi Sad -
Why not go to Novi Sad, Serbia’s hidden treasure? The city feels like a present from the travel universe which is opened during a day trip to this picturesque paradise in each cobblestoned street.
The first thing you should visit is Petrovaradin Fortress. Imagine yourself looking at majestic Danube River flowing through the landscape below you as if it was an ancient silver ribbon while standing on top of its old walls. If you take a picture there, it will be so beautiful that people on Instagram will envy you (in a good way).
However, this castle has more than one trick under its sleeve! Discover every secret passage and hole built into them where centuries worth of history and mystery sleep. Like a box filled with treasures waiting for someone to open it up – from underground tunnels to strange artistic works – that’s what can be said about Petrovaradinska Tvrđava.
Besides these delights: Hidden Gem Novi Sad in Serbia offers many other things too: Then take another walk around old part of town when you have some free time left over after all these places mentioned before have been visited already. There are galleries which look like postcard pictures everywhere around here so if art is your cup of tea then feel free to enter any single one among them; also there are lots of cozy little cafes where tired travelers can sit down rest their legs sip strong serbian coffee or eat something sweet and historical buildings whisper stories about past days spent under different governments but still connected with each other by same bricks - it’s almost like going back in time except modern times are always available thanks to Wi-Fi system being installed everywhere nowadays so people never miss out on anything unless they want to themselves.
And don’t forget about food either! You must try local cuisine at least once while being there because nowhere else will such delicious meals be served next door from one another. They offer everything from typical Serbian dishes such as cevapi or sarma to international meals that will make your mouth water like never before – the only problem is where should you go first for lunch or dinner?
So if you are into history, love eating or just want some peace and quiet then Novi Sad is the place to be.
