Events in Bangkok to plan for

Bangkok is a dynamic city full of events that reflect its unique combination of traditional customs and modern lifestyle. The city's calendar is crowded with activities ranging from grand cultural celebrations to contemporary art exhibitions and lively music concerts which means there is always something happening for everyone.

These are rooted in Buddhist traditions and the Thai monarchy. For example, King’s Birthday or Songkran (Thai New Year) where they blend somber rituals with joyful festivities best represent this diversity. In observance of these occasions, streets across Bangkok get adorned in festive decorations while bustling with activity as people from all walks of life join locals in merry-making.

Songkran Festival

From April 13th till 15th every year, Songkran Festival turns the streets into a lively water fight zone known worldwide as one of the biggest celebrations anywhere on earth. During this time marking traditional Thai New Year, both residents and tourists participate by splashing each other with water either using buckets or guns among other things thereby representing cleansing away last year’s bad lucks so as to have a fresh beginning in the coming years.

Loy Krathong

In November usually on a full moon night which falls within twelfth month according to the Thai lunar calendar system; Loy Krathong takes place along riversides canals lakes etcetera throughout Bangkok where people gather around such bodies of water releasing little boats made out leaves called “krathongs” into them which are decorated with candles incense flowers among others.The act itself symbolizes paying respect towards spirits living under water bodies while at same time detaching oneself from negative thoughts thereby leading into self-awareness through spiritual rejuvenation.
